Hi, I'm Kat from Creative Playhouse. I'm so excited to be writing here at Bath Activities for Kids.   I love the healing, therapeutic and playful qualities bath times can have for all the family, and creating special baths for kids is a wonderful idea. It is great to have the chance to share this Shimmering Sensory Sparkle Bath with you. I hope you like it. :)

To create this bath I used things from around our home; polystyrene pizza bases, some foam packaging,  some silver fabric from a cool bag, some Christmas polystyrene baubles, snowflakes and icicles, metallic silver paint and lots of glitter!
I chopped the silver fabric stuff and the pizza bases into snowflake shapes and snow balls, with a little water they stuck to the bath and the tiles. I put the silver paint into the water while it was still running and it dissolved into a shimmering wonderfulness. Then I added bubbles, lots of bubbles, and sprinkled glitter in to the water and on to the bubbles. I placed the Christmas ornaments into the bubbles too, and added some white pots for pouring fun.
Jake came up to see and to my delight, said, "Wow, this bath looks really good Mummy, a really amazing bath!", and in he got............
.... and promptly added more glitter! The photos really don't do this bath justice. The water was an amazing shimmering silver with pools of glitter and sparkling bubbles.
Poppy was about to join Jake in the bath, so in went more glitter, for good measure. Jake really liked clearing the bubbles to reveal the silver underneath; it reminded me of ice fishing.
Poppy is fascinated with the bath anyway, but with the added sparkle she seemed to love it even more! She really loved the foam snowballs and snowflakes (I took the smaller ones out before she got in). She soon figured out that there were balls hidden in the bubbles too, which she just loved as she has been eyeing them on the Christmas tree all week!
They had a great time playing together; it was lovely to watch them interacting. I purposefully didn't set up anything in particular for them to 'do' in the bath, just lots of sensory elements for them to engage with and enjoy.

I completely forgot to add the shaving foam - I had planned to put out a couple of pots of some  sparkly snow paint for Jake too. Next time.

Our shimmering sparkle bath was a really lovely chilled out activity in the midst of all the crazy Christmas crafting and cooking we have been doing (you can see some of that on Creative Playhouse), and we finished it off by drying off downstairs with Frosty the Snowman and some hot chocolate.
